how to boost social media engagement in 2025 (and actually make it fun)

April 4, 2025

I know, I know—everyone seems to be throwing these words around. But bear with me!

'boosting social media engagement' sounds boring

Let’s be real, social media in 2025 is no longer just about showing up with pretty visuals. If you want to stand out, you’ve got to create content that grabs attention, builds community, and genuinely connects with people. The good news? With a little strategy and the right tools in your corner, you can turn engagement from a mystery into a repeatable, results-driven process.

engagement is more than just likes

Today, engagement is a full-on mix of likes, comments, saves, shares, and DMs. But more importantly, it’s a signal that your content is resonating. While platforms like TikTok and Instagram still take the lead when it comes to high engagement rates, it's not about chasing trends. It’s about showing up where your audience is, speaking their language, and creating content that encourages them to stick around (and interact).

make content that feels like a two-way street

We all know content is king. Whether it’s a short video on TikTok or an Instagram carousel with helpful tips, make sure your content is platform-specific and audience-first. A helpful hint? Use tools already built into Instagram to help your audience engage more easily. Better yet, feature their responses in your next post to build that feel-good feedback.

community

People don’t want perfect; they want personal (is that the name of my next tattoo?). Respond to comments, slide into your DMs, and take time to thank your audience for showing up. Social media is social, after all! Showing up with authenticity, even in small ways, builds trust, and trust is what keeps people coming back.

to wrap it up

At the end of the day, increasing engagement now-a-days comes down to being intentional and approachable. Use the data to guide your strategy, but always lead with heart. Show up for your audience in ways that feel real, and the engagement will follow. Your call to action? Audit your current engagement strategy, and give your community more chances to speak up. You’ll be surprised at how much more effective social media can be!
